What did you do before you entered the world of promotional staffing?
Before I entered the world of promotional staffing I was a corporate man working with companies such as Samsung and BT in their business division and retail management. My main clients were Three and Samsung, along with big department stores such as Selfridges, Harrods and John Lewis.
And how did you get into promotional staffing?
One day when I was working with Samsung I was onsite for the Launch of the Samsung Galaxy, there were many promotional hosts & hostesses there helping us and I got chatting to them. Amongst all the great things they were telling me, it was when I heard about all the top brands they were working with and the ever-changing events they were working on, no two days were the same. I was sold… My actual first event was a PR stunt for Peperami at Royal Ascot, that was an experience!
What do you like about tech?
I like that it’s so innovative! Tech is constantly evolving and at such a fast pace. It plays a massive part in everybody’s day to day life and I really enjoy being face to face with people to demonstrate products that benefit their everyday life. It’s exciting.
What has been your favourite tech event so far?
The best campaign I have worked on so far has been Oculus Rift. It’s an ongoing campaign since October 2016 which brings me face to face with customers in luxury department stores where I am demonstrating the Oculus Rift headset and touch controllers. Customers reactions are priceless!
What are your top 3 tech brands you have worked with so far?
Samsung, Oculus and PlayStation by far, they are amongst the leaders in the industry.
Have you noticed any changed to live tech events since you joined in the industry?
Absolutely, technology has become far more innovative and more involved with the consumer journey. Brands are now realising the importance of interaction and the importance of giving the customer a memorable and tangible experience of the product. It really is all about the experience!
What is the most popular piece of tech equipment at the moment?
Virtual reality and gaming, it’s huge!
Where do you see tech going for the future of live events?
Far! It’s crazy to think what the future holds for tech. We now have virtual reality and the focus is on gaming however it won’t be long before friends across the globe are meeting up over a VR headset without having to physically be there.
Mark Zuckerberg recently announced his visions for wearable AR glasses, that overlay the real world with digital content, replacing traditional TVs, smartphones, and numerous other physical objects with virtual versions. Now that’s exciting!
